How Manpo Steps compares

Every cell below comes from the US App Store listing of each app, read on 12 September 2026, or from our own listing. Nothing is a judgement of how well another app counts. Where a listing does not state something, the cell shows a dash, which is not a claim that the app lacks it. If we have something wrong, tell us and it will be corrected.

What each app is good at

These are different products, and each of the four is strong at something Manpo Steps does not attempt.

  • Pedometer++ is a walking and hiking companion: routes you can draw, GPX import, offline maps on the phone and the Watch, weather along a route, badges and training plans. Its Watch workout screens are the most complete of the four.
  • StepsApp is built around motivation with others: challenges with friends and teams, streaks, a family plan, and a shop. It reads steps from Apple Health with a lead device you choose.
  • Pacer is the community app: walking clubs, group challenges, routes and parks near you, GPS-mapped walks, and workplace programmes. It asks for more data because those features need it.
  • ActivityTracker is the lightweight one: background counting that its listing says spares the battery, simple charts, and a low-priced PRO tier.

What Manpo Steps is for

One honest number. The app shows the total Apple Health has for the day, the time it was read, and the sum that produced it: what the iPhone counted, what the Watch counted, the overlap Health removed. Streaks survive rest, sick and travel days. There is no account, no advertising and no analytics, and the App Store label says Data Not Collected. Pro is a week, a year, or once. Why your steps differ explains the number; what it costs lists the tiers.

Questions

Which step counter app has no ads?

Of the five compared here, Manpo Steps is the only one whose App Store listing does not carry the Contains Advertising flag. Pedometer++, StepsApp, Pacer and ActivityTracker all show it, as of 12 September 2026.

Which pedometer app collects the least data?

Manpo Steps declares Data Not Collected on the App Store. Pedometer++ declares data not linked to you, including location and identifiers. StepsApp, Pacer and ActivityTracker declare data used to track you; Pacer also declares data linked to you including health and fitness data.

Is there a step counter with a one-time price instead of a subscription?

Manpo Steps sells Pro once, for US$39.99, as well as a week or a year. None of the other four listings shows a one-time purchase; each sells a monthly or yearly subscription.
